Make New Year’s Resolutions You Can Keep.

Many people make resolutions at the beginning of the year. It is customary in some cultures to do so. But how many people follow through on their resolutions. There is no way to tell for sure, but the number of resolution keepers may not be as high as it could be.

The keys to keeping resolutions, are not only follow through, but realizing not to set your aspirations too high to begin with. For example, if one of your resolutions is to bring about world peace, it is good to remember that this lofty task may not come about overnight. However, in the short-run, change can begin with us individually and methodically, such as, remembering to be kind to strangers, and/or to family members and co-workers.

Other more common resolutions include improving one’s health by losing weight and exercising. It is always helpful to remember that weight gain is a process and so is weight loss, and therefore it may be easier to make and keep a resolution to shed a few pounds at a time than to resolve to lose say 40 pounds in time for an upcoming special event. And when it comes to exercise, it is better start slowly with any fitness program and gradually building up your stamina for greater activity as time goes on.

And finally, it is wise to remember that if you fail to keep one resolution, you can simply make another one beginning right now.
